Two Barren County Archers Compete at NASP Nationals in Daytona
Herald and Jones made the trip to the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach for the June 18-20 NASP Championship — one of the biggest school archery events on the calendar. Herald shot a 280 in the boys bullseye division, landing 182nd out of 1,339 competitors. He was sharper in 3-D, posting a 283 to finish 81st out of 1,054 boys. That's a top-8% result in a massive national field.
Jones held her own in the girls divisions. Her 270 in bullseye placed her 308th among 1,288 archers, and she saved her best for the 3-D event — a 279 good for 86th out of 1,014 competitors, also top 9%. Both archers faced students from states across the country, so cracking the top 10% in either 3-D bracket is a real result worth noting.
