Fred Eichler

American · Bowhunting media — traditional recurve; TV host and outfitter

In August 2009 a cow tule elk made Fred Eichler the first person to take all 29 North American big game species recognized by Pope and Young with a recurve — a Super Slam that included a bush plane crash and a flipped boat on a grizzly hunt along the way. He hosts Everything Eichler on Sportsman Channel and runs Fulldraw Outfitters in southern Colorado with his wife Michele, guiding elk, antelope, deer, bear, and turkey. Bear Archery sells a takedown recurve with his name on it, and Bowhunter Magazine lists him as its traditional editor.

Status

Active — hosting Everything Eichler, guiding at Fulldraw Outfitters, publishing YouTube content as of mid-2026

Equipment

Completed much of his hunting career with a Hoyt Buffalo recurve at 54 lb draw, Easton Axis 400 arrows, and Muzzy broadheads (per HuntingLife interview); now lends his name to the Bear Archery Fred Eichler Signature Series takedown recurve (58"/60"/62" AMO via interchangeable limbs). Uses a Rock River Arms signature .223 rifle for predator hunting.
